About Samsung Warranty

Samsung provides a 1-year limited warranty on most consumer devices including Galaxy phones, tablets, laptops, and monitors. The warranty covers manufacturing defects and hardware failures. Samsung Care+ is a separate protection plan that adds accidental damage coverage and extends the effective service period beyond the standard warranty.

What Samsung Warranty Covers

Samsung's standard warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. It excludes physical damage, liquid damage beyond rated water resistance, unauthorized modifications, and normal wear and tear. Samsung Care+ adds accidental damage protection (up to 2 incidents per 12 months with a deductible), loss and theft protection for eligible plans, and priority service.

How to Find Your Samsung Serial Number

On Galaxy phones and tablets: go to Settings > About Phone > Status Information > Serial Number. The serial number is also on the device label (often under the SIM tray or on the back). For Samsung laptops, check the bottom panel sticker. On Windows, run wmic bios get serialnumber in Command Prompt.

Typical Samsung Warranty Duration

Most Samsung consumer devices carry a 1-year limited warranty. Samsung does not offer multi-year standard warranties for consumer phones and tablets the way PC manufacturers do. Samsung Care+ is the primary mechanism for extending service coverage and adding accidental damage protection.

When Your Samsung Warranty Expires

After Samsung warranty expiry, Samsung still offers paid out-of-warranty repair at Samsung Service Centers. Third-party repair shops are widely available and often less expensive. Samsung's warranty lookup portal does not support serial number pre-fill via URL, so manual entry is required.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Samsung serial number?

On Galaxy phones and tablets, go to Settings > About Phone > Status Information to find the serial number. It is also printed on the device's physical label. For Samsung laptops, the serial number is on a sticker on the bottom panel.

How long does Samsung warranty last?

Samsung provides a 1-year limited warranty on most consumer devices. This covers manufacturing defects and hardware failures. Samsung does not typically offer standard multi-year warranties comparable to PC manufacturers — Samsung Care+ is the extension option.

What is Samsung Care+?

Samsung Care+ is Samsung's device protection plan. It covers accidental damage (up to 2 incidents per 12 months with a service fee), mechanical breakdown, and on select plans, loss and theft. It must typically be purchased within 30 days of the device purchase.

Does Samsung warranty cover cracked screens?

No. The standard Samsung warranty does not cover accidental damage including cracked screens. Samsung Care+ adds accidental damage coverage, including screen damage, subject to a deductible. Without either coverage, screen repairs are available at Samsung Service Centers at standard rates.

Can I check Samsung warranty without the serial number?

No. Samsung's warranty verification requires the device serial number or IMEI. Without this identifier, Samsung cannot look up your specific device's warranty status or service history. The serial number can be found in Settings > About Phone > Status on Samsung devices.
